Sticking to a Skin Care Schedule

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

People who have done well using a combination of prescription medications and quality skin care products have stuck to a regime and used their medications as directed by their doctors.  By doing so, enabled their prescription medications to do the job they were created to do, and reduced the likelihood of side effects.

It’s best to wait 10 to 15 minutes after cleansing your face before applying topical acne treatment. If you’ve waited but see redness, drying, or peeling, the irritation may be caused by your cleanser. Try to use only alcohol free products. Always use a gentle cleanser–one that feels non-abrasive and does not contain alcohol–on your face and other acne-prone areas, including your back. Using a noncomedogenic moisturizer (one that won’t clog pores) immediately after applying the treatment can reduce redness, drying and peeling. Acne doesn’t clear up overnight. After 3 to 4 weeks, expect to see about a 40% improvement.

It takes 4 to 6 months to see significant improvement but worth the time and energy you put into it.

World´s the Best Blush Trick

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Jeni Lee, the makeup artist who keeps stars like Salma Hayek and Denise Richards flawlessly flushed, gives us these tips for getting the most natural look:

  1. Begin by looking straight into the mirror and placing your finger on your cheek bone directly under the outer edge of your eye´s iris. This is where you should begin applying color.
  2. On this place, use a large, soft blush brush dipped in a blush that´s slightly darker than your skin tone – like the flush you get if you pinch your cheeks – for the most natural effect.
  3. Sweep color straight back towards ear.

Seasonal Changes on Skin Care

Friday, December 14th, 2007

No matter where you live, it’s vital that you change your skin care regime along with the season. With bitter, chilly weather, the cold months bring conditions that can be damaging to the skin.

Start the day with a hot shower but before leaving the shower, expose yourself to a stream of cold water for about twenty seconds, turn the temperature to hot again, and repeat for about two minutes. It sounds crazy but this is an effective hydrotherapy technique that can do wonders for your skin.

Use a proper moisturizer. Choose a moisturizer with at least an SPF of 15. Also, choose one that contains oxide. And, don’t forget to use an SPF on those lips. Exfoliate lips once a week to rid your skin of dead skin cells—this will allow for the absorption of extra moisture.

Drink hot water with a twist of lemon. This Chinese herbal remedy will re-energize the body and mind. Additionally, it will detoxify your entire body. Get plenty of rest. Sleep is essential for healthy skin (at least 7 hours is optimal).

The Wonders of Maple Serum and B. Kamins Skin Care

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

If you’ve ever been to Canada in the winter you know how intense the season can be. The air is freezing and dry and can be damaging to the skin.

One winter, while fishing in Northern Canada, a chemist named Ben Kamins become aware of something very curious—the sturdy maple trees surrounding the fishing lake looked to be the only vegetation that survived the winter elements. On a gut feeling Kamins began studies immediately.

X What he discovered was that the serum within the trees was rich in life-sustaining resources such as antioxidants, minerals, polysaccharides, alpha-hydroxy acids and preservatives. In addition, the serum had a large moisture content and was not greasy, making it the perfect material from which to make skin care products.

Quickly after these findings B. Kamins skin care products were born. And, all consumers can buy with ease as these natural products are dermatologist recommended and are not ever tested on animals.

Protect Your Skin from the Sun

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

The environment can be rough on the skin—especially in the summer. During the heated summer months the sun can dehydrate the skin, especially on the face. It’s vital to take special care of your delicate skin and to retain its moisture. In order to counteract the drying effects of Mother Nature you should moisturize the skin morning and night; this will create a soft “canvas” for daily makeup application and have skin looking its healthiest. Try to use moisturizers and foundations with SPF to protect from further skin damage.

Say Goodbye to Shaving Irritations

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Shaving can be a pain—literally. A lot of men have problems with skin irritation on their neck and face after shaving (folliculitis). Some irritations are so painful that men can only shave once every six days; this is the only way to keep the event of irritation at a minimum. This doesn’t usually leave enough time for the face to heal completely.

Folliculitus is a public problem but there are things that you can do to relieve the situation:

  • Start by trimming your facial hair with an electric razor before using a regular razor.
  • Exfoliate with a gentle pre-shave exfoliator.
  • Then, use a rich, lubricating shave cream that has silicone technology, to prevent further irritation.
  • When finished shaving put a warm, moist towel on your face followed by a cold one—this will help pores to close.
  • Alleviate burning by using ice cold aloe gel (refrigerate before using).
