If you’ve already had it up to here with “the royal wedding this” and “the royal wedding that,” have mercy on us. We couldn’t help but be intrigued by Kate Middleton’s choice to do her own makeup for the grand affair, especially when you bear in mind the vast influence she’s had over feminine style and sensibility.

Perhaps Miss Middleton is here to teach us that you don’t need to shell out big bucks in order to look your best, especially if you already look amazing given the makeup skills you’ve perfected over the years.

Either way, we’re sure some of you are clamoring for a piece of the royal pie too – here are some basic do-it-yourself beauty tips, inspired by the ever glamorous and practical Kate.

Skin

Ever wondered how Kate managed to keep her skin so radiant and flawless through the months-long media circus that ensued following her engagement? Alright, we relent, not all of us have our photographs airbrushed when we make public appearances, but at least we can’t chalk this one up to our lack of a team of professional makeup artists.

Fortunately for us, it’s not beyond our grasp to get our hands on the same products that Kate relies on to nourish her dewy complexion. Ever since she was introduced to them by a friend, Kate swears by products developed by Swiss beauty brand Karin Herzog, according to Style.com. Karin Herzog’s U.K. managing director, Julie Cichocki, told the news source that Kate uses the Professional Cleanser, the Vita-A-Kombi 1, the Vita-A-Kombi 3 Spot Zapper and the Oxygen Face Cream.

This last ingredient in particular is something that will let women everywhere breathe a little easier – Karin Herzog was one of the first companies to use oxygen in its beauty products.

“Stress is the number one culprit for depleting oxygen in the skin, and, poor girl, what could be more stressful than an international announcement of a royal wedding, with cameras from every news agency pointed at you,” Cichocki told the news source. “A wedding of any kind is stressful for a bride, and still, her skin looked just beautiful – dewy, plump, fresh.”

Hair

You and I both know that we wouldn’t be so captivated by Kate’s effortless glamor if it weren’t for those commercial-worthy chestnut locks.

Kate’s hair is the next shiniest thing besides her engagement ring, so ladies who want to cop her look should reach for moisturizing shampoos and conditioners. A shine-enhacing serum or spritzer can help add a little extra reflective oomph.

As for that classic polished style, Glamour.com instructs women everywhere to nab it for themselves using “the round-brush twist.”

“Using a medium-sized, boar-bristle round brush, blow out your hair as usual, until it’s about 80 percent dry,” the news source explains. “Then start rolling sections onto the brush and [flip] it vertical to your head. Hold each section that way and blast with heat from the dryer for several seconds, then pull the brush straight down until the hair slides up and off.”

Voila – you’ve got sleek, subtle ringlets that will make for a rather royal impression.

Makeup

Last but not least, the moment you’ve all been waiting for – the beauty prowess that is now so accessible to women everywhere. Kate has inspired many with her clean, basic makeup that bodes well for a run down the grocery aisle just as well as it does for a professional photoshoot.

With the already-impeccable complexion you acquired thanks to Kate’s skincare regimen, apply just enough tinted moisturizer or foundation to even out your skintone.

A soft, rosy blush paired with sheer pink or neutral gloss will add the subtlest tint of color to lips and cheeks, as eyes are what tend to steal the show in true Middletonian fashion. A basic rim of black or dark brown liner applied to the top and bottom lash line is of utmost importance, followed by a couple coats of black mascara and a pencil or mousse to get those brows in tip-top shape.

If you thought that was easy, rest assured – the hard part largely involves waiting on that prince to show.

Illuminare Liquid Mineral Makeup isn’t your everyday run-of-the-mill make up. Its formulas have a very high concentration of pigment that surpasses that of ordinary, non-mineral make ups. For this reason, the application process can be difficult. To achieve best results, cleanse your face with a proper cleanser and then apply a moisturizer that is oil-free before beginning to apply Illuminare cosmetics.

There are a lot of formulas and types of foundations to choose from. The main difference to look for is consistency.

Pressed powder foundation is a silky, dry formula that is usually used on oily skin types. Powder helps absorb oil and keep your face feeling and looking smooth and soft. Dry skin types usually don’t prefer powder because it tends to have a drying effect and can leave skin flakey.

Cream foundation has a heavier consistency, which is widely used for dry skin types. It provides extra hydration and adds luster to dry, dehydrated skin. This type of foundation is commonly used by middle-aged and older women who like to “fill-in” the creases. Cream foundation tends to provide more coverage. Use a proper moisturizer first before applying foundation. “Stick” foundations are similar to the cream foundation as far as texture. The “stick” design provides an easy way to carry your make up without anyone knowing it. This formula is often used for touch up’s and spot cover up’s.

Liquid foundation can be used for all skin types. It is a “universal” and common formula. You can buy liquid foundations that are oil-free and/or non-clogging. This type of foundation is easy to wear and comes in different coverage and shades.

If you know your skin type and the coverage you are looking for then it’s easy to decide the formula of foundation that will best fit your individual needs. Remember you need a good canvas (fresh face) to start with so be sure to use your three step skin care routine (cleanse, tone, moisturize) before you apply your foundation.

Your eyes can be one of the most important parts of your face. Some experts believe your eyes are the focal point. If your eyes are done correctly then everything else will fall into place.

Women with smaller eyes should use a light shade over the entire lid and add only a minimal amount of a darker shade in the outer corners. Light colors can make your eyes look larger. Dark shades tend to make eyes look tiny. Try to never line or put mascara underneath eyes as this can tend to make eyes look smaller. Using a natural looking brow pencil on groomed eyebrows and filling in may also make your eyes look more expressive.

On your big day makeup application is essential—you will be in the spotlight, after all and it’s critical that your bridal makeup is flawless.

To begin, start from the bottom and make sure that your foundation provides an even starting point for the rest of your makeup to be built upon.

If foundation ordinarily makes your skin feel thick and oily, then you’re not using the right kind (the longer-lasting foundations are heavier as are the foundations that transform into powders so avoid these). In fact, you can pretty much avoid almost all foundations and stick to cream cover-ups and correction sticks for skin irritations and dark circles. Apply these and blend them by massaging them into the skin.

After applying a light foundation or some type of cover-up to the problem areas apply a thin coat of loose powder with a clean brush. A loose powder is delicate and translucent so it won’t give you a “cakey” appearance. In addition, loose powder is easy to brush off any excess powder will blend easily and reduce shine. Only apply colors that don’t look overdone and thick and pick shades that closely match your skin hue.

In a joint effort with a University in Germany, Babor Cosmetics has developed an extremely gentle process that uses wine yeasts. The process includes removing as much Glutathione as possible from the yeast.

Why Glutathione? Glutathione is the first radical-trapping agent which is revived often within the body by enzymes in the epidermis. The process is so complex and gentle that it neither damages nor heats the cells in the yeast—this allows for 60% more glutathione to be removed.

As a result, they were able to invent the “Selection” product line. Selection is a deluxe skin care line that focuses on restoring the skin’s natural renewal process and methods of defense. Also, these products are so gentle they can be used on any individual of any age.

The best way to free skin of large pores is to begin a three step cleansing skin care regime. First, cleanse with either a Cleansing Cream or Cleansing gel that will get rid of the dirt, dead skin cells and make-up that are inside and on top of your pores. The second, and very important step in the reduction of pore size is to use a Toner without Alcohol. Follow this phase with a moisturizer with Vitamins A and E. These ingredients encourage healing and are especially good for people prone to acne. Once a week after you cleanse, use a treatment exfoliator. Follow the exfoliator with a good Toner and Moisturizer.
